About Paul Laird:
Paul Laird is Professor of Musicology at the University of Kansas, where he has taught since 1994. Laird’s teaching specialties include music of the Baroque, twentieth century, the United States, and musical theater. He also plays Baroque cello and viola da gamba, directs the KU Instrumental Collegium Musicum, and plays in Sunflower Baroque. Laird has published widely about Baroque music and musical theater in books, book chapters, and journals and presented lectures and papers at conferences and universities in the United States, United Kingdom, Spain, Italy, and Ecuador. He has presented pre-performance lectures in the Kansas City area for years for such organizations as the Johnson County Community College Celebrity Series, Lyric Opera, Friends of Chamber Music, and Navo.
