Te Deum’s annual Antiqua series concert features Renaissance composer Salamone Rossi, a composer ahead of his time who navigated two worlds that rarely intersected.
Don’t miss our annual Antiqua series concert performed at two stunning venues — Visitation Catholic Church in Kansas City, MO, and Grace Episcopal Church in Topeka, KS.
“Forbidden Music of Salamone Rossi” explores the groundbreaking work of a Renaissance Jewish composer who introduced polyphony into Hebrew sacred music. A court musician in Mantua, Rossi navigated two distinct musical worlds, composing for Christian nobility while reimagining Jewish liturgical tradition. This program highlights his revolutionary Ha-Shirim Asher li-Shlomo alongside modern Jewish choral works, offering a compelling journey through the evolving sound of Jewish sacred music.
