Singers

Te Deum Chamber Choir is an ensemble of professional choral singers from the Kansas City region who share a desire to share, grow, and create powerful choral music.

Te Deum focuses its concerts on creating a context for sacred music that evokes an evocative spiritual and musical experience for the audience. The deep meaning of the text and music drives every repertoire and musical choice, as the ensemble produces a unique choral experience.

Tom Assel

Tom Assel studied vocal technique with Dr. Stephen Weber at Amarillo College, Texas. Tom earned a Bachelor of Science in electrical and computer engineering and a master’s degree in electrical engineering from the School of Computing and Engineering at the University of Missouri-​Kansas City. While there, he sang in the Conservatory Concert Choir under the direction of Dr. Charles Robinson, and University Singers under the direction of Dr. Ryan Board. He and his wife Julie own and operate Assel Grant Services, a grant consulting firm specializing in grant research and proposal writing in a variety of fields. Tom has been singing with Te Deum since fall 2010.

Jared Brooks

Jared Brooks is a second-​year graduate student at UMKC Conservatory, pursuing dual masters degrees in Vocal Performance and Choral Conducting. He studies with Dr. Aidan Soder and Dr. Jennifer Sengin, respectively. A native of Georgia, he earned his Bachelor of Music Education from Reinhardt University, where he studied voice with Dr. Cory Schantz and conducting with Dr. Martha Shaw. An active performer, Jared has appeared in several roles this past year such as Canio (Pagliacci), Rapunzel’s Prince (Into the Woods), Le Prince Charmant (Cendrillon), and Basilio (Le Nozze di Figaro). He is equally engaged with sacred music and currently serves as Choral/​Vocal Intern at Village Presbyterian Church in Prairie Village, Kansas. Recent solo appearances include Bach’s Mass in G Major, Mozart’s Vesperae solennes de confessore, and Handel’s Messiah. In his free time, Jared enjoys playing guitar, golfing, and cheering on the Atlanta Braves and Georgia Bulldogs. Jared also enjoys spending time with his wife, Melody, and their two cats. Jared is excited for his first season with Te Deum and looks forward to making great music together.

Nico Caruso

Nico Caruso, a Kansas City native, recently graduated with his master’s degree in Opera Theatre from the University of South Carolina where he studied with Professor Dominic Armstrong. Nico earned his Bachelor of Music Education from the University of Missouri-​Kansas City. Nico stays as involved as he can in the operatic, musical theatre, and choral scenes both in and out of Kansas City and has performed lead roles in Kurt Weill’s Street Scene, Puccini’s Gianni Schicchi, and She Loves Me by Bock & Harnick. Nico has also sung tenor in a number of professionally recorded choral ensembles. When not learning music, Nico enjoys baking and doting on his younger sister.

Lucy Conklin

Lucy Conklin is looking forward to making wonderful music with Te Deum again this season! Lucy holds a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from the University of Kansas. As a lifelong chorister, Lucy sang in numerous choral ensembles at KU. After graduating and moving to KC, she served as a section leader and sub at many KC area churches, and sang with KCVITAs for 8 years. Lucy joined Te Deum in 2015, and continues to take immense pride in being a member of this world-​class choral ensemble. Lucy enjoys bringing sparkle to the lives of Kansas City residents as sales manager at Toner Jewelers in Overland Park, KS. A self-​professed crazy cat lady, she lives in Brookside with her husband, Dave and four cats: Dot, Larry, Juniper and Rosemary.

GiGi Jolie Crenshaw

Soprano GiGi Jolie Crenshaw is thrilled to join the Te Deum choir for its 2025–26 season. GiGi is a 2024 graduate from the University of Missouri-​Kansas City with her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance and studies with Dr. Aidan Soder. During her time at UMKC, GiGi performed the roles of Suor Genovieffa (Suor Angelica), Papagena (Die Zauberflöte), and The Sandman/​Dew Fairy (Hansel and Gretel). In the past year, GiGi has performed with the Westwood Ensemble as a duettist singing “The Flower Duet” from Lakmé and “The Barcarolle” from Les Contes d’Hoffman. She also performed as the dragette, Gold, in the Black Box Theater’s production of Christmas Ain’t A Drag. GiGi will join the Westwood Ensemble again to perform Bach/Gounod’s “Ave Maria” in the Fall and will join them again in the Spring. GiGi is from a small town in Arkansas and has lived in Kansas City for the past five years. She plans on auditioning for graduate schools in the Winter and is eager to see where her career and passion take her. GiGi has always had a deep-​rooted passion for choral ensemble works and looks forward to her time with Te Deum.

Tara Curtis

Mezzo-​soprano Tara Curtis has established herself as an “impressively full-​voiced, dramatic” singer of operatic and concert repertoire. Her “keen, bright mezzo, darkened with raw edges” with its “arresting power and radiant tone” has been hailed as “a natural fit for Verdi.” In October, she’ll be singing Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder with the Odyssey Chamber Group. Recently, she sang Waltraute in Wagner’s Die Walküre with Dramatic Voices Midwest here in Kansas City. She was the mezzo soloist in Mahler’s Second Symphony with the Springfield Symphony Orchestra in and the soloist with the Topeka Symphony Orchestra in their holiday concert. Other credits include Sarasota Opera, Opera on the Avalon (Canadian debut), Lyric Opera of Kansas City, Merola Opera, Tulsa Opera, Palm Beach Opera, Syracuse Opera, St. Petersburg Opera, Opera in the Heights, Wichita Grand Opera, Trentino Music Festival, Crested Butte Music Festival, Janiec Opera Company at Brevard Music Center, and numerous roles at the University of Kansas, the Boston Conservatory and the University of Missouri.

JD Daniel

JD Daniel (he/​they) is a composer, bass-​baritone, and writer based in Kansas City, MO; this is their third season with Te Deum. A queer, neurodivergent Indian-​American and humanist, their music and writing touch on various aspects of existentialism and human flourishing—secular and mystical, community and individuality, pain and healing, and connection and transformation. A singer with a “powerful and ringing tone” (Paul Pattison, KC Arts Beat), JD’s current engagements are with Choral Guild KC and Te Deum and as a Choral Scholar at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church. Their past engagements include KC VITAs, Boston Camerata as a chorus bass in Dido and Aeneas (2023), and the Missouri Oratorio Society as bass soloist in C.P.E. Bach’s Magnificat (2019). JD holds a BA in Oxbridge Music and Philosophy from William Jewell College (’19), with his third year (2017–2018) at the University of Oxford (U.K.). He has studied voice with Ron Witzke, Dan Norman, Nicholas Clapton, Daniel Belcher, Jay Carter, and Raymond Feener. JD is a freelance composer and poet available for commissions, collaborations, and residencies.

Andrew Flanagin

Tenor, Andrew Flanagin is delighted to be singing with Te Deum again for a 2nd season. Flanagin is a professional chorister with Lyric Opera of Kansas City. A gifted soloist, he has performed with R. Paul Crabb and Mizzou’s Choral Union and the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra in Evansville, Indiana in a production of Puccini’s Turandot. Other career highlights include the collegiate premier of It’s A Wonderful Life by Jake Heggie and Gene Scheer at Indiana University. A passionate teacher, he maintains a private voice studio in Lee’s Summit teaching students of all ages. Flanagin is a section leader at Our Lady of Good Council Catholic Parish. Flanagin is an alumnus of the University of Missouri School of Music graduating with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance where he studied voice with Ann Harrell and the Jacobs School of Music at Indiana University graduating with a Master of Music in Voice studying under the tutelage of soprano, Katherine Jolly. When not singing, teaching or performing, he enjoys wining and dining at local restaurants, spending time with friends and family, attending live sporting events, and cheering on the Kansas City Royals, Chiefs, and Current, Missouri Tigers, and Indiana Hoosiers.

Paige Flenniken

Paige Flenniken received her Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance at Oklahoma State University where she performed the roles of Susanna (Le Nozze di Figaro), Gilda (Rigoletto), Susannah (Il Segretto di Susannah), Nella (Gianni Schicchi), Isabelle/​Madeline (Face on the Barroom Floor) and Aldonza (Man of La Mancha). Paige is engaged in the choral world, performing with Kansas City’s professional choir, Te Deum, since 2021 and premiering twice at Carnegie Hall with the OSU University Singers. She has appeared as soprano soloist for Monteverdi’s Venetian Vespers of 1641 (Te Deum), Bach’s Mass in B Minor (MIdland-​Odessa Symphonic Chorale), Haydn’s Lord Nelson Mass (OSU), and Handel’s Messiah in three consecutive years at her alma mater. Paige recently participated in the Wiener Musik Seminar International Master Classes and competed in the Prof. Dichler-​Competition in Vienna. This performance qualified her for the Concours International Leopold Bellan finals in Paris in October 2024.

Abby Gast-​Waterson

Abby Gast-​Watterson is a passionate nonprofit professional and musician from Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Abby attended Pepperdine University for a Bachelor of Arts in music, received her master’s degree in choral conducting at the University of Illinois at Urbana-​Champaign, and worked with a children’s choir in Colorado before returning to the Kansas City area in July of 2024. She has worked with people of all ages to accomplish individual and collective goals through music but loves the opportunity to continue finding common ground with folks from all backgrounds through her work as the Development and Events Coordinator with the Center for Practical Bioethics. She loves to bake, go on walks, and snuggle with her mechanic husband, Nicholas, and their two cats, Checkers and Chessica.

Nick Gast-​Watterson

Nicholas Gast-​Watterson is a Southern Illinois native currently living and working in downtown Kansas City with his wife, Abby. Nicholas holds a B.A. in Piano Performance from Greenville University and has over a decade of experience as a collaborative pianist. Despite his background in and love for music and the performing arts, his experience is wide-​ranging — from pizza delivery to lift-​truck operation, from arena stagehand to gluten-​free baker, from lifeguard to auto mechanic. When Nicholas isn’t wrenching on cars during the day, he can be found hiking, biking, playing soccer, or on the couch with a book weighing several pounds.

Tim Gorski

Tim Gorski is delighted to return for his third season with Te Deum. He holds a Bachelor of Music in Music Education from Millikin University and a Master of Music Education from the University of Kansas, and he also sings with the Schola choir at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Kansas City. Tim has been teaching high school choir for seven years and is in his fourth year as the choir director at William Chrisman High School in Independence, MO. Outside of teaching and performing, he enjoys spending time with his wife, their newborn son, and their dog, attending concerts and shows, watching the Cubs and the Packers, and trying craft beers.

Rupal Gupta

Rupal Gupta finally considers herself a Te Deum veteran as she begins her 6th season with the group. She cultivated a lifelong love of choral music with the Harvard-​Radcliffe Collegium Musicum, and she is thrilled to have found her choral family in Te Deum performing sacred chamber music with amazing human beings. A general pediatrician, Rupal served previously as Interim Director of General Academic Pediatrics at Children’s Mercy Hospital and Medical Director of Operation Breakthrough Clinic, and currently is a health IT professional with Kyruus, Inc. She loves baking, reading, yoga, and volunteering, and maintains pediatric ties through the American Academy of Pediatrics. She lives in Leawood with her husband and her favorite and most rapidly growing creative endeavors: their two children.

Jeff Jasperson

Jeff Jasperson is so grateful to be singing with Te Deum for a 7th season! Jeff grew up in Lawrence, KS and graduated from the University of Kansas (Rock Chalk!) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Music, Voice Performance. At KU, he performed with numerous choirs and was a four-​year member of the KU Marching Jayhawks as a trumpet player. From 2017–2019, Jeff was a director of the choral variety show Encore! at Free State High School in Lawrence. Jeff served as the tenor section leader of the Trinity Lutheran Church choir in Mission, KS from 2019 until 2025. He has recently sung the national anthem for the Kansas City Royals, Sporting KC, KC Current, and other local teams. Jeff works as a support coordinator for a non-​profit called eitas, where he collaborates with and advocates for individuals with developmental disabilities in Jackson County. Jeff and his golden retriever Berkeley live in south Kansas City, MO. In his spare time, Jeff enjoys spoiling Berkeley, distance running, honing his cooking skills, and cheering on local sports teams.

Bria Jones

Bria Jones is thrilled to join Te Deum for her first season! A proud Kansas City native, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Music Education from the University of Missouri. A versatile and captivating musician, Bria enjoys performing across a wide range of genres — from church choirs and community musical theatre to cabaret and lounge settings. She has sung with ensembles such as the St. Louis Chamber Chorus and the Dallas Credo Choir, and has taken the stage in lead roles in Le Nozze di Figaro and Heathers: The Musical. While she enjoys many musical settings, Bria’s true passion lies in choral singing. Now back in her hometown, she’s excited to reconnect with the Kansas City arts community.

Allyssa Kemp

Mezzo-​soprano Allyssa Kemp enjoys a diverse career in concert and opera, spanning from early to contemporary music. She has been a featured soloist in works such as Helios (Timothy C. Takach), Magnificat, BWV 243 (Bach) Hymns for Private Use (Nico Muhly), The little match girl passion (David Lang), Coronation Mass (Mozart), and Ode to St. Cecilia’s Day (Purcell). Notable operatic roles include Sylvan in What the Spirits Show (Silen Wellington/​Walken Schweigert), Deborah in Non Motus (Marc Hoffeditz/​Ilana Fogelson), Turnspit in Rusalka (Dvořák), Nancy in Albert Herring (Britten), Bao Chai in Dream of the Red Chamber (Bright Sheng), and the title roles in L’enfant et les sortilèges (Ravel), Hansel and Gretel (Humperdinck), and Dido and Aeneas (Purcell). Equally dedicated to music education, Allyssa teaches voice and piano at the UMKC Conservatory Academy and privately in her home studio. She holds an M.M. from the University of Michigan and B.M. from Stetson University.

Ryan Layton

Ryan Layton is a teacher, singer, conductor, and collaborative pianist. Ryan teaches choir and music appreciation at Blue Springs High School and serves as director of music at Barry Christian Church. He is in his fifth season with Te Deum and serves as singer representative to its board. Ryan represents the Kansas City Metro district on the Missouri Choral Directors Association (MCDA) board and coordinates the state Sight-​Singing Bee. He earned a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education from the University of Missouri (2018) and a Master of Music Education at the University of Missouri-​Kansas City (2025). Ryan is an avid New York Times crossword solver and a devoted Kansas City and Mizzou sports fan.

William Lubaroff

Will Lubaroff is excited to begin his first season with Te Deum. A native of Iowa City, Iowa, Will grew up surrounded by music. The son of a professional jazz saxophonist, he began piano lessons at an early age, followed by jazz guitar, and ultimately took up singing in high school. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from the University of Northern Iowa, where he sang with the school’s Concert Chorale, Men’s Glee Club, opera program, and Cantorei, a choir focused on performing J.S. Bach’s cantatas. He also founded and directed the school’s first a cappella group, the SingPins. Today, he works full-​time as a Copywriter and serves as the Tenor Section Leader at Shawnee Mission Unitarian Universalist Church, as well as teaching a small studio of piano and guitar students and performing around the Kansas City metro. Will and his fiancée live in East Kansas City with their anxious dog and four loving cats.

Josh Markley

Josh Markley is thrilled to be singing with Te Deum once more. He holds a Doctorate of Musical Arts in voice and has been recognized for his research on the development of the baritone voice in the 17th and 18th centuries, lauded as an “excellent resource” by the Metropolitan Opera Guild. On the opera stage, he has performed Marcello in Puccini’s La Boheme, Tarquinius in Britten’s Lucretia, Il Conte in Mozart’s Le nozze di Figaro, Don Alfonso in Mozart’s Così fan tutte, among others. His concert soloist experiences include Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mahler’s Symphony No. 8: Symphony of a Thousand, Haydn’s Creation, Carl Orff’s Carmina Burana, Bernstein’s Arias and Barcarolles, Vaughn Williams’ Sea Symphony, Handel’s Messiah, and the Requiem Masses of Mozart, Verdi, & Faure. Currently, he is the Director of Music for the Barstow School – Upper and Middle Divisions, teaching choirs, music theory, music history, digital music production, and musical theater. Outside his passion for music, he strives to be the best dad he can be to his two amazing girls, Nora and Samantha.

Ann Marzette

Ann Marzette joined Te Deum Chamber Choir in the fall of 2009 for its first full season. She graduated from William Jewell College in 2009 with degrees in piano performance and church music with a vocal emphasis. In 2013, she completed her Master of Arts in teaching from the University of Central Missouri. She currently teaches at Kearney Middle School, where she serves as director of vocal music. Prior to teaching at KMS, Ann served as the vocal music teacher at Marshall High School (Missouri) for four years and was the director of the Marshall Community Chorus. Outside the music realm, Ann works at Anthropologie to support her dress addiction. She also runs a pie side hustle: Easy As Pie KC.

Evan J. Nelson

Evan J. Nelson is excited to be singing with Te Deum for his second season! He is originally from Albany, Georgia and is currently finishing his DMA in Voice Performance at the University of Missouri-​Kansas City. He also holds a Master’s in Vocal Performance from Binghamton University and a Bachelor’s in Music and Theatre from Florida State University. In the past, Evan has had the opportunity to perform with companies such as Cedar Rapids Opera, The Aspen Music Festival and School, and Teatro Nuovo. Some of Evan’s recent roles have included:the Count in Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, the title role in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, as well as Mr. Johannes “Pa” Zegner in Mazzoli’s Proving Up. When Evan is not busy singing and performing with different groups in the KC Metro area, he enjoys watching movies, reading, traveling, and working out at OrangeTheory. He is really excited to keep learning and growing with this ensemble throughout the upcoming season!

Sam Nolte

Sam Nolte is excited to be joining Te Deum this season! Sam earned a Master’s in Music from the University of North Texas, and a Bachelor in Music from Drake University, both in Vocal Performance. A life-​long lover of Choral music, Sam has had the pleasure to sing in countries all over the world with the Drake Choir (Dr. Aimee Beckmann-​Collier, director) and the UNT A Cappella Choir (Dr. Allen Hightower, director). Sam is also an accomplished opera performer, singing with programs across the U.S., such as Charlottesville Opera, Cedar Rapids Opera, and the Des Moines Metro Opera. Upon completion of his Master’s Degree, Sam took some time to evaluate other opportunities away from music, but is so excited to be back in the world of choral music!

Rosie O’Brien

Rosie O’Brien is a soprano from Lawrence, Kansas who is excited to join Te Deum for the first time. Rosie has stayed active in music despite a career in political activism which brought her to Kansas City in late 2020. She earned degrees in Political Science and Studio Art from Grinnell College in 2016. As a soprano 1 with the Grinnell Singers, she debuted director Dr. John Rommereim’s original compositions in Taiwan and performed on tour the works of Caroline Shaw, Rachmaninov, and Pärt. In Kansas City, she has performed with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus and Stone Lion Puppet Theater. Currently, Rosie is starting her second year as a Choral Associate at Country Club Christian Church, her third season with Renaissance vocal ensemble Madrigalia Bar Nonne, and is in her sixth year directing and playing Sousaphone with her New Orleans-​style street parade band Sass-​a-​Brass.

Roslinde Rivera

Mezzo-​soprano Roslinde Rivera is a Kansas City-​based vocalist and passionate arts advocate and administrator. She holds a degree in Vocal Performance from William Jewell College, graduate certificates in Performance and Performing Arts Management, and an MBA in Nonprofit Management and Innovation from University of Missouri-​Kansas City. This season, Roslinde is excited to merge her passions, performing with Te Deum and continuing her role as Audience Engagement Coordinator behind the scenes. An active choral singer and soloist, she has performed with numerous ensembles in the Kansas City area, including Village Presbyterian Church, Musica Vocale, Cardinalis, St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Kantorei KC, Thin Air Productions, and the Sacred Arts Chorale. In addition to her extensive choral work, she has taken on operatic roles with The Boston Camerata, Opera on Tap — KC, Lawrence Opera Theatre, and Dramatic Voices Midwest.

Rafael Rodriguez

Rafael Rodriguez, Tenor, is in his fourth season with Te Deum. A specialist in early music and sacred repertoire, Rafael has over 15 years of experience in Gregorian chant and Renaissance polyphony. He currently directs chant at St. Vincent de Paul in Kansas City, leading the schola in weekly High Masses using the Solesmes method. His work includes preparing chant for major feast days, Holy Week, and other solemn liturgies. In addition to directing, Rafael sings in the St. Vincent de Paul Choir, which performs a wide range of sacred music for the liturgy, including Renaissance, Baroque, and contemporary works. He also teaches sacred music at St. Vincent de Paul Academy, where he directs the high school boys’ choir and prepares them for monthly sung Masses and seasonal concerts. He currently studies voice with Dr. Andrew Childs and has sung Tenor I with Songflower Chorale under Dr. Geoffrey Wilken, the Kansas State Collegium under David Wood, and the church choir at the Immaculata Church under Dr. Childs. Outside of music, Rafael works professionally as a Senior Technical Project Manager.

London Roysden

London Roysden is a singer and educator based in Lawrence, KS, where she recently received her MM from the University of Kansas. She is entering her second year as a choir director in Lee’s Summit, MO, and has previously spent time on the podium as an Associate Director of the Lawrence Children’s Choir and as a graduate teaching assistant for multiple KU choral ensembles under the mentorship of Dr. Eduardo Garcia-​Novelli and Dr. McKenna Stenson. London received her undergraduate degrees from Carthage College, in her hometown, Kenosha, WI. Over the last three years living in Lawrence, she has sung professionally in multiple ensembles and churches between Topeka and Kansas City. A few of the only things she loves more than choral music are her boyfriend Mitch and their two beautiful kitties, Goose and Beatrice Mittens. London is thrilled to be joining Te Deum this year!

Sarah Schulte

Sarah Schulte is excited to be singing with Te Deum for a sixth season! She is currently in her fifth year as Director of Choirs at Park Hill South High School, and was previously the Assistant Director of Choirs at Blue Springs South High School. She graduated from the University of Missouri in 2018 with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Music Education, Summa Cum Laude. While there, Sarah was active with the University Singers and Show-​Me Opera programs, singing abroad in China, Sweden, and Estonia. In addition to teaching in Park Hill, Sarah has previously sung as a section leader in St. Paul’s Episcopal Choir and with the Kansas City Symphony Chorus. Sarah loves hiking, house plants, craft beer, and her dog, Ollie!

Julia Kasten Sharp

Julia Sharp has been happily singing with Te Deum since the fall of 2019. A graduate of UMKC Conservatory, Julia holds a Bachelor of Music in both Vocal performance and Music Theory. She has had the pleasure of singing with many choirs in the Kansas City area, including Kantorei KC, Cardinalis, Kansas City Chorale, Tallgrass Chamber Choir and Voices of Kansas City. Outside of music, her favorite hobbies include cuddling with her cat, Charlie, and road-​tripping across the country with her husband, Jake.

Jennifer Smith

Jennifer Smith is a coloratura soprano based in Kansas City, Missouri. She recently completed her Master’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Missouri-​Kansas City Conservatory, under the tutelage of Dr. Aidan Soder. Prior to that, she earned her Bachelor’s degree in Vocal Performance from the University of Louisiana Monroe, where she studied with Dr. Claire Vangelisti. Ms. Smith has showcased her vocal talents in a variety of prominent roles, including Laetitia in Menotti’s The Old Maid and the Thief, Josephine in Gilbert & Sullivan’s H.M.S. Pinafore, Amalia Balash in Masteroff’s She Loves Me, and Rose and Mrs. Fiorentino in Weill’s Street Scene. Additionally, she has performed as Erste Dame in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Mabel in Gilbert & Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, and Cinderella in Sondheim’s Into the Woods. An active participant in the Kansas City choral community, Ms. Smith is beginning her second season with the professional choral ensemble Te Deum. She has also served as the soprano vocal intern at Village Presbyterian Church, where she performed as a soloist in Bach’s Mass in G Major, BWV 236. Other choral performances include solo appearances in Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and Haydn’s Little Organ Mass.

Asher K. Tillman

Asher K. Tillman is a budding bass-​baritone from Strafford, MO in his fifth professional season, and he is excited to be returning for his second with Te Deum! A highly active young performer, Tillman has quickly established himself as a heavy hitter within Missouri’s choral arts scene. He appears regularly with such groups as Kantorei KC, Queen City Chorale, Missouri Choral Artists, Voices of Kansas City, and the GRAMMY Award®-winning Kansas City Chorale, with whom he can be heard on their latest album, The Mirage Calls. Additionally, he serves as a long-​term staff singer with St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Brookside. Beyond the choral sphere, he is also a versatile theatrical performer, enjoying a wide range of character roles in such works as Violet, Molière’s Tartuffe, Cabaret, Chekov’s The Three Sisters, The 25th Annual…Spelling Bee, Peter and the Wolf, and The Fantasticks.

Thou Yang

From Fresno, California, Thou Yang received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education from Fresno Pacific University and Master of Music in Choral Conducting from The Conservatory of Music and Dance—University of Missouri-​Kansas City. He has performed all over the United States, singing Bass for exceptional groups such as The New York Philharmonic, Kansas City Chorale, The Saint Tikhon Choir, Ensemble Altera, Skylark Ensemble, Orpheus Chamber Singers, True Concord, Evergreen Ensemble, Missouri Choral Artists, and many others. He is excited to be joining Te Deum this season. He currently teaches Preschool to 3rd Music at Summit Christian Academy in Lee’s Summit and has his own private voice studio. He has also done a lot of work as a clinician for choral ensembles, a voice-​over artist, an audio/​recording engineer, and an audio/​visual consultant. Thou resides in Lee’s Summit, Missouri with his wife Susan and five children: Alene, Mark, Jean, Corinne, and Joseph.
