Remembrance and Comfort

This Memorial Weekend, Te Deum presents a concert of reflection and solace, featuring Hubert Parry’s Songs of Farewell and Herbert Howells’ Requiem, alongside selections from James MacMillan’s Tenebrae Responsories. Written in response to personal loss and the devastating toll of war, these works offer a universal message of comfort in times of adversity. Parry’s and Howells’ compositions reflect the grief of their era, from the battlefield losses of World War I to the personal tragedy of Howells’ son.

Complemented by MacMillan’s contemporary exploration of love and sacrifice, this program honors the resilience of the human spirit and provides a space for remembrance and healing.
